Brent Birnbaum grew up in Dallas, Texas and has called New York City home for the last ten years. Most people are more surprised he is not on Facebook than learning his cousin invented the Bedazzler. Mr. Birnbaum makes and arranges objects and performs. Endurance, interior design, absurdity, the role of the viewer, pop culture, and collecting are common threads in his expansive work. Brent’s first solo museum show was last fall at Casino Luxembourg - Forum d'art Contemporain, where his first catalog was published. He is currently preparing a sculpture show of painted treadmills for Mexico City to open in February. This past summer also marked the opening of Topless, a seasonal gallery he co-founded in Rockaway Beach, New York. Hurricane Sandy devastated the Rockaways in 2012. As part of the rebuilding effort, Mr. Birnbaum became a Gallerist.
