Mahtab Aslani was born and raised in Tehran, Iran. Her multi-paneled paintings of interior settings, architectural views and everyday objects, reflect on the complexities of the overlooked and the poetry of the ordinary. She received her BFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, IL, and her MFA from Brooklyn College, NY. Her work has been exhibited at various venues including Staten Island Museum, NY, Chosunillo Museum, Seoul, South Korea, Contemporary Museum, Baltimore, MD, Delaware Museum of Art, DE, and Tenri Cultural Institute in New York. She has been a resident fellow at the Center for Emerging Visual Artists in Philadelphia and Kimmel Harding Nelson Center for the Arts residency program in Nebraska City. Mahtab is currently a resident artist in Chashama’s studio program. She lives and works in Brooklyn, NY.
