Monika Zarzeczna was born in Warsaw, Poland, grew up in the Netherlands and lives and works in Brooklyn, New York. She works predominantly in sculpture and installation around abstracted memories of interaction with objects and places. She combines found and new materials, looking for expression and a poetic possibility. Monika Zarzeczna exhibited in the Netherlands, Spain and Slovakia and in the USA in the Sculpture Center, Lesley Heller Workspace, helper, Spencer Brownstone and David Castillo Gallery among other venues. She was a resident at the Skowhegan Residency , the WCC Center for the Arts in White Plans, NY and has held the chashama studio space residency in Brooklyn since 2010.
