Suejin Jo, a Korean born abstract painter, studied at the Art Students League and Columbia University. Deeply interested in unique picture surface, Jo worked with dry pigment for many years and currently experimenting with resistance between acrylic and oil medium. Jo was in many solo and group shows and won the 2008 Jacob Lawrence Solo Exhibition Award sponsored by the NY Artists Equity Association and juried by DC Moore Gallery. Jo has participated in the Pool Art Fair, NY and Miami, Manif, Seoul Korea; AAF with KSK, Tria Gallery and with Julio Valdez Studio; and Architectural Digest’s Art Show. Jo's work is in many private and public collections including the Library of Congress, the WTC Memorial Museum, Chase Manhattan Bank, General Instrument Company, the Embassy of San Marino, NAPABA Law Foundation,Sogang University, the Ahl Foundation, and Korea Exchange Bank. Jo's paintings were exhibited by the U.S. Embassies in East Timor and Mexico. The State Department chose Jo's "Pontchartrain" to be included in its 2012 Desk Calendar titled “Homage to American Women Artists”.
