a puppet spectacle :
Out of Time is an oldest-timey puppet adventure to another dimension. Creator Chris Skeens says the show "is the relationship between the action and reality of the concrete situation and the awareness by everyone involved (except for the puppets) that there's something else going on. There is some other consciousness at work and there are other patterns being played out…it's a transcending, awakening story about the puppets realizing there are puppeteers. About looking for a larger structure in the universe."

Chashama and Feed the Herd Theatre Company present
Tis Pity She's a Whore
by John Ford

July 6th - 27th, 2002

Feed the Herd Theatre Company proudly takes a satirical stab at an otherwise tragic play,
'Tis Pity She's A Whore by John Ford (1633)
Directed by Emanuel Bocchieri.
Opens July 6th and closes July 27th
The schedule: Sundays and Mondays @ 7pm
Wednesdays and Fridays @ 8pm
Saturdays @ 6pm (except closing night, July 27th at 9 PM)
Tickets are $15 General Admission
and can be reserved by calling 212.501.2282.
Visit their website at www.feedtheherd.org

'Tis a Pity She's a Whore is a Jacobean tragedy set in a small Italian town about the incestuous love-affair between a brother and sister, her many suitors (she is the most beautiful girl in town), and the regrettable actions of individuals driven by a town of self-righteous zealots. Unlike many productions of John Ford's classic that focus on the gravité of star-crossed lovers destined for an ill-demise for wont of forbidden love, Feed the Herd is doing the show as commedia dell'arte. Accentuated by live music, burlesque antics and masked characters, FTH asks, "What's not funny about a brother impregnating his sister and then murdering her suitor before being stabbed mercilessly by a pack of banditti?"

The cast includes: Kevin Kaine, Ian Tabatchnick, Charlie Becker, Brian Snapp, Mike Weiss, Danny Dempsey, Anne Winkles, Happy McPartlin, Keri Meoni, Dawn Medina, Jermaine Chambers, Brian Calandra, Matt Hanley, plus ensemble.

The artistic team is led by: Artistic Director Brian Snapp and includes Set Design by Tom Lee, Lighting Design by Doug Filomena, Costumes by Eva Hageman, Masks and Make-up by Joelle Troisi and Anjelika Rivjers.

Director and company member Emanuel Bocchieri says, "I wanted this production to be satirical because I find it to be ridiculous how in 300 years nothing has changed. The wealthy class has always stretched the moral code to fit their excessiveness." Feed the Herd Theatre Company was formed in late 1997. Their mission this season is to define the dimensions of perspective and how the medium of theatre can shift perspectives in character, story, and point-of-view. Past productions have included their annual Harvest and Stampede Festivals, Seven Seconds and The Blank Line.

In the Herd brand of theatre, nothing needs be what it seems. It seems to be what it needs.

Also in conjunction with Feed the Herd:

fugue theatre,in special arrangement with Dramatists Play Service, Inc.

SAMUEL BECKETT’S WAITING FOR GODOT
Saturday, July 6th, 2002 through Sunday, July 28, 2002 Tuesdays and Thursdays at 8:00 p.m*
Saturdays at 9:00 p.m.**
Sundays at 3:00 p.m.*
except Thursday, July 18, Special Benefit Performance begins at 7:00 p.m., followed by reception.
**Saturday, July 27th, performance begins at 6:00 p.m.
Call 212.879.6983 for details and reservations.

Ticket price is $15 ($10 for students), payable at the door. Benefit performance and reception price: $35. fugue theatre follows up its production of Mac Wellman’s Harm’s Way with Samuel Beckett's absurdist classic, Waiting for Godot. Last performed in New York City almost four years ago, this cornerstone of twentieth century drama explores the travails of Didi and Gogo as they wait for someone - or something - they think is called Godot. Will he ever arrive? Will he save them? Will these ancient urchins finally get some sleep? Will they get to eat something besides carrots, turnips and radishes? Will their boots and hats ever fit properly? Will night never come? This existential fugue on the nature and meaning of existence - or the nature and meaning of waiting - is the play that has influenced dramatists from Albee to Shepard, from Pinter to Stoppard. Watch Didi and Gogo play with their hats in a tribute to The Three Stooges. Watch Pozzo, who claims to be a rich landowner, and his minion, Lucky, who thinks but can't talk, and dances but can barely walk, help them pass the evening. They laugh, they cry, they try to pass a day that seems like it will never end.

Featuring Eric Michael Kochmer, Richard Hutzler, Billy Steel and Antonio Edwards Suarez, and directed by Brian Snapp, this play will have you thinking about life, love, and the true meaning of friendship long after you leave the theatre. You'll never look at a tree in the same way again.

Come see why Samuel Beckett is called the greatest dramatist of the 20th century, in this production by fugue theatre - the cosmic pranksters who brought you Ionesco's Exit the King and sundry other classics of the recently deceased 20th century.

The Company:

fugue theatre is a dramatic collective dedicated to the word and the flesh, to the glory of the old and the shock of the new. In the spirit of the theatrical innovators of the past and the present, we believe that an aesthetic combination of precision and anarchy is necessary for all communication. Form is not a prison; it is not a wall. Form and structure are the instrument upon which the unbridled freedom of the individual is played. Our task is to see the world afresh, to see each moment of life in a new way. Our goal is to communicate these visions to the world. A fugue is a musical composition in which a short theme is played or sung by one instrument or voice and then developed in counterpoint, one after another, by other instruments or voices. fugue theatre believes that this is the form in which all of life is played.
