Uto Gustav
Uto Gustav is a graduate of the Visual Arts Academy - painting section - from Kolozsvar / Cluj (1982), in Transylvania region of Romania. He began to realize secret performances inl 1989 and after the so-called Romanian Revolution. Beginning in 1991, he was the organizer of the AnnART Living Art Festival (10 editions) and from 1995 the director of the Etna Foundation, one of the most important alternative art institutions from Romania. In Sepsiszentgyorgy / Sf.Gheorghe, he organizes contemporary art exhibitions, ELO TEKA - video projections of performance art documents (weekly), ARES - Artist in Residence program (half-annually), ERUPTIO - Action Art Meeting (annually).
As an artist he has participated in many different international exhibitions, such as the 49th Venice Biennial (Romanian pavilon) in 2001 and Juming International Art Camp (Taipei) exhibition in 2004. With performances he has represented Transylvania at festivals in England, Poland, Lithuania, Finland, Slovakia, Germany, Serbia, Northern-Ireland, Moldavia, Hungary, Israel, Mexico, Canada, USA, Japan and Taiwan.
