Regina Nejman is currently developing Beautiful Figure, a new multimedia dance where two dancers explore various ideas of "beauty," ranging from the late Renaissance period to contemporary times when beauty is merely defined as "hot" in our culture and often distorted; exploiting the objectification of women. The piece emerged as a necessity and a reminder to continue to pursue beauty in everyday life while the world is crumbling down with violence and destruction. Taking the angle of the female body through time, Beautiful Figure reveals images of beauty that remind us of paintings and sculptures of Victorian and contemporary times. The piece is performed by Regina Nejman and dancer Julie Miller with live original piano score by Ryan Tully. The evening of the work-in-progress of Beautiful Figure will be performed at Dixon Place on January 12, 2016.
