Include Semester/Year/and Position (i.e. ‘Winter 2020 Administrative Intern’) as the email’s subject line.

Hours and Compensation:

This is an unpaid internship. Hours to be coordinated with supervisor.  In-house catered lunch provided 2-3 times per week. Metrocard reimbursement available when applicable for work-based travel. Class credit available.

General Requirements:

Students must be within 6 months of beginning or having finished an educational program in order to apply as an intern.

AVAILABLE INTERNSHIPS

 

Administrative Internship:

 

Responsibilities

  • Assist with day-to-day administrative office duties
  • Maintain databases.
  • Special projects.
  • Handle time-sensitive in-coming/out-going mail and email.
  • Errands and deliveries.
  • Miscellaneous administrative tasks as needed.

Art Education Internship:

 

Responsibilities

  • Assist teaching artists with hosting visual art workshops with all aspects of a workshop including materials, instruction, demonstration, etc.
  • Work and engage with community members during art workshops.
  • Bring positivity, encouragement and a love for the arts and the artistic process.
  • Photograph and document workshops.
  • Communicate with staff and artists clearly and consistently.

Arts Programming Internship:

 

Responsibilities

  • Support Programming Staff with artist correspondence, site visits, and meetings as needed.
  • Assist with special events as they arise such as open studios and, window and gallery exhibitions.
  • Assistance with documenting and cataloging incoming applications and artwork.
  • Entry and upkeep of Program records and artist database.
  • Errands and deliveries.
  • Assist auditing artist, donor, property management contacts.
  • Miscellaneous administrative tasks as needed.

ChaNorth Internship:

 

The ChaNorth residency offers an opportunity for 5-7 artists to work and live in the Hudson Valley for four weeks. ChaNorth accepts applications in all creative fields, including but not limited to visual arts, choreography, writing, music composition, and performance.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with day-to-day administrative office duties.
  • Maintain databases.
  • Update selection process spreadsheets.
  • Send out contracts.
  • Post on social media.
  • Create one pages for artist bios each session.
  • Update website.
  • Handle time-sensitive in-coming/out-going mail and email.
  • Errands and deliveries.
  • Miscellaneous administrative tasks as needed.

Development-Grants Internship:

Responsibilities

  • Research potential government, foundation, and corporate grant opportunities.
  • Assist drafting of grant supplemental documents.
  • Organize and update database of donors.
  • Help with miscellaneous writing projects.
  •  Perform general administrative tasks.

Special Events and Cultivation Internship:

 

This internship provides great exposure to an exciting range of development, production and administrative responsibilities surrounding Chashama’s Annual Gala. The Intern will report to the Special Events & Cultivation Director, and will work closely with all departments as part of a small, active team.

Responsibilities

  • Donation processing & database tasks.
  • Supporting planning efforts for the annual Chashama Gala, the wildest performance art showcase in NYC – tracking RSVP’s; distributing promotional materials; assisting with logistical tasks as needed.
  • Researching donor prospects & making look books.
  • Acknowledgment letters – merging, printing, and stuffing envelopes.
  • Errands and deliveries.
  • Miscellaneous administrative tasks as needed.

Marketing and Communications Internship

 

Responsibilities

  • Attend gallery and exhibition openings.
  • Assist with marketing efforts for gallery openings, Open Studio events, and other Chashama related events.
  • Develop content on Social Media Platforms including Instagram and Facebook.
  • Documenting Chashama events and contributing to blog content.
  • Mailing list maintenance.
  • Research and implement effective ways to advertise Chashama and our events.
  • Conduct interviews with current artists and alum to use for promotion.
  • Update our Press Kit when necessary and send to prospective Press.

Operations Preparator Internship

 

Responsibilities

  • Assist with organizing and maintaining operations storage and art collection.
  • Assist with gallery turnover, including patching, painting, and general clean up.
  • Assist with packing, securing, and transporting artwork for curated Manhattan lobbies.

Photography Internship

 

Responsibilities

  • Attend, photograph and film our gallery and exhibition openings.
  • Attend, photograph and film our free workshops.
  • Photograph our stationary lobby and exhibition spaces.
  • Photograph before and after of Chashama spaces.
  • Edit photos and videos for promotional and archival use.
  • Assist in proposal and press PDF development.
  • Assist in managing and maintaining image archive.
